Young! Indian Mains Guidance Program

As I said in the last post, I am working on guiding a few selected candidates with their mains preparation. The last post received a good response and I have personally messaged a select 20 of them. Let me elaborate on the plan of action that I have charted for the program.

Name of the Program: Any good thing should be first named! I felt that a good name is needed for such a program and decided to name it Young! Indian Mains Guidance Program. What better name for an effort to help young people who aspire to join the civil services?

Selected Aspirants: Among the many people who responded, I have responded to around 20 of them. It was mostly done on a first come, first serve basis. I really want to help the others also, but don’t have the bandwidth to do so. These 20 people have been sent invite links for the Slack ( Software) Team of Young! Indian. Out of these 20 odd people, as I said in my initial post, only 10 would be personally catered to. The others will be able to ask their doubts and queries through slack. I will soon be giving a call to those 10 people ( sometime in the next week)

Mentors: It would be overconfidence on my part to think that I can help all of them single handedly. Therefore I have asked friends of mine who are even better than me and many of them graciously have offered to guide these 10 candidates with their optional. Some of the people who will be helping these candidates will be

  1. Utsav Kaushal (14th Rank (2017), Maths optional, IAS)
  2. Hariram Shankar ( IPS, Geography optional)
  3. Rahul P (IA&AS, Sociology Optional)
  4. Adarsh Agarwal ( Mechanical Engineering, IA&AS)

Many others are also being roped in and I will have a clearer picture by the end of next week. Please bear with me for one week until I sort out the plan and people who will be involved.

Program: As I had set at the outset, this won’t be a coaching program, but rather guidance effort. As of now, what I have in mind is 2–3 answer writing sessions ( on each of GS papers and Essay Paper, general guidance related to optional ( no answer writing, but general principles to be followed while attempting the respective paper, and also resolving any doubts that you have regarding the mains exam. We will also be helping you with filling the DAF especially with respect to Cadre, Services, hobbies etc because even though these things come up only at the interview stage, these are required to be filled up during the mains stage itself. Don’t be under the impression that your studying will be taken care of by this program. That you have to do by yourself. Infact you will have to do most of the heavy lifting while we will just play spotter.

Blog: From now on, posts related to this program will go in the blog I have created with respect to this:- Young! Indian.
