Why can't we address "United States of India" instead of India, reminding people that other states live in harmony with them?

Our country is the Union of India of which the states are divisible, destructible parts. The states of India didn’t come together to create the Indian Union, but the people did. Our Parliament can create, alter and destroy states at will with simple majority.

In the case of United States, there was considerable state sentiment during their entire independence movement. That is why they have states which are individually indivisible without special procedures. The citizens are both citizens of the US as well as the state.

India’s makers did not intend it to be such an inflexible structure with multiple loyalties. Without that itself, our federalism is thriving well.
