Which is the best book to read about Gandhi?

There is no end to the literature that covers Gandhiji’s life. Gandhiji being one of the Indian leaders who truly inspire me, I take note of most books that cover his life. I want to add an unconventional source to learn about his life here.

Gandhiji’s life was no less extra ordinary than a Marvel or DC superhero. If you look at the struggles that he had to face in his life and the way in which he lived it for his countrymen despite the constant criticism that was thrown his way, it makes him a new age superhero in my eyes. Given my liking for comic books, a particular book attracted my attention very recently. It is the graphic novel, Gandhi my life is my message, written by Jason Quinn and art done by Sachin Nagar.

Written in first person, with Gandhiji narrating the events from his birth and leading upto the moment of his tragic death at the hands of the religious fanatic Nathuram Godse, I think this book is a must have in any personal library.

Here is the screenshot of the first page of the book.

The book has fantastic artwork and the story line is engaging as well. It is a light read which captures many details of Bapu’s life that one should be aware of as an Indian. I do recommend this book to any beginner who wants to read about Gandhiji’s life.
