Is there any possibility cuttoff for Upsc prelims 2016 under 100?

No, there is not.

Despite what some people have been saying, the paper was definitely scoring. A cautious, well prepared student could have easily answered 40–50 questions without any substantial effort. These were direct questions with no “UPSC Element” in them. Some of the questions like Sustainable Development Goals, Man who knew infinity, Question on Panchayat lower age, Questions on modern India etc. belong to this category.

The general opinion has also hovered in the 100–115 range. Now, this might depend very much on which crowd you have been hanging out with. All of my friends have comfortably scored above 100 and only the newcomers and “backbenchers” (if I can call them that. Doesn’t make much sense as far as an exam like this is concerned. I use it for the lack of another word) I know, scored less than 100 in this year’s paper. I am quite sure there are enough people who have scored above 100 to make the mains exam.

Finally, the trends from major coaching institutes also indicate to the cut off being above 100. Many of them predict it to be between 110–120.

Personally, I predict the the cut off will be 111. Let’s just wait and see.

Good Luck.
