I would not recommend it.
The NCERT texts are in itself very short and contains a lot of interlinkages in the text. A capsule made out of NCERT might leave you wanting as far as conceptual understanding is concerned.
However, if you plan to use the Gist of NCERT for revision, then it should more than suffice.
NCERT text books are the bare minimum that you should read before you set out on your path to write this exam. Skip it at your own risk.
