Except in the essay paper, your command over the language would not make much of a difference. Your effort should be to make your answers legible and understandable.
However, good English should never hurt your chances. If it is filled with an “exasperating farrago” of words, there is a good chance it will go over the head of the evaluator.
You don’t want to be in either extremes.
