As a trader, you should be aware that there is no “one” news that can move the market. Market swings on a wide variety of news and therefore you would have to depend on a wide variety of sources and also draw on your experience to figure out which news is relevant.
Let me elaborate. Take a news item like Ebola. Even though it doesn’t appear at first instance like a news that might actually move the market, it had a major impact on many pharma stocks in the US. A pessimistic outlook on Asian shares at their closing can impact prices in the USA and vice versa.
Having said that, I find the following sources generally reliable to keep a track on the economy and the market.
- Business Newspapers: Most of them carry almost every other news. I find Business Standard, LiveMint and Economic Times suits my tastes.
- Press Information Bureau: Many important items like the Reserve Bank Policy Statements, CPI data, IIP, WPI etc are better dealt with here than the newspapers, since they don’t have any space constraints.
- RBI Database on Indian Economy: This site serves as a very good database if you want to analyse many key indicators. They have data on the weekly forex position, key rates, Monthly WPI, IIP data etc. A lot of conclusions can be arrived at based on analysis of this data.
- Moneylife India****: This is not a news website, but carries a lot of articles which I find to be of great value as an investor. The people behind the site are big names like Sucheta Dalal ( who exposed the Harshad Mehta Scam). They report and analyse many information that is ignored by mainstream media.
- If you are someone who follows the crypto market then the Kraken App has a market section, which has a good feed of selected articles.
- Blogs: There are many excellent blogs on Finance, Markets and Indian Economy. One that I particularly follow regularly is Mostly Economics by Amol Agarwal
Since you have not specified the nature of your trading activity, I don’t think I can offer anything specific.
Hope this helps.
